How do I get a library card?

Come into the Library and fill out an application. Please bring a photo ID. If your photo ID does not have your Delaware County address, you will need a document that shows your correct address (such as insurance card, bill, lease, or checkbook). Don’t forget, if you live in Delaware County, your Rachel Kohl Community Library card is free!

Can I apply for a library card online?

If you’d like to apply for a library card online, visit this page: https://www.delcolibraries.org/library-card-registration. This will provide you with a temporary library card number and within a few days, you will receive an email with your library card number. Later, you will receive a physical card in the mail.

Can I use my library card at a different Delaware County library?

You can use your library card from Rachel Kohl Community Library at any of the libraries in the Delaware County Libraries (DCL) system and vice-versa.

Can I use my library card in a different county in Pennsylvania?

If your library card has a blue Access PA sticker on it, you are able to register and use most public libraries in Pennsylvania, including Rachel Kohl Community Library.

Can I get a library card if I live in a different county in Pennsylvania?

If you live outside of Delaware County and your current library card does not have a blue Access PA sticker, you may purchase a non-resident card. This card may be used only at the library where it was purchased, and must be re-purchased annually.

People who work in Delaware County and do not have an Access PA library card can use their work address to apply for a free non-resident card. Cards are renewed annually.

Can I get a library card if I live in a state other than Pennsylvania?

If you live outside of Pennsylvania, you may purchase a non-resident card. This card may be used only at the library where it was purchased, and must be re-purchased annually.

What if my library card expired?

Like all Delaware County Libraries, library cards from Rachel Kohl Community Library expire every 3 years. If your card is expired, please call the Library or visit our circulation desk to renew.

What if I lose my library card?

If you lose your library card, visit the Library’s circulation desk and let us know. A replacement library card costs $3.*

What if I don’t have my library card with me?

If you left your library card at home, you can either purchase a replacement card, or use your driver’s license. You must use one of these options so that we can confirm your identity when you are checking out materials.

What if I need to change my name or address associated with my library card?

Please call the Library or visit our circulation desk to update your account information. You will be asked to verify this information every 3 years.
